Wood Library Funding Proposition Passes

With 5,845 ballots cast, Canandaigua City School District voters approved a $20,000 levy increase for Wood Library in a vote that was conducted by mail-in ballot. The margin was 71% in favor to 29% opposed.

Library Director Jenny Goodemote expressed gratitude to everyone who cast a vote. "With all that is going on in people's lives, the unpredictability of every day, and uncertainty about the future, I know that voting in this election was another thing for people to consider and take care of. The community's continued support of Wood Library allows us to fulfill our mission and provide the essential services that people rely on and want."

When will the library building reopen to the public?

Libraries are part of the NYS Department of Education and are slated to reopen in Phase 4.  We will not be reopen the building to the public immediately, but will offer curbside pickup of materials during limited hours.  We expect to welcome patrons into the building at a later date during Phase 4.  In spite of our temporary building closure, we continue to provide offer digital services and virtual programs.  All in-person programs are currently suspended and outside community groups are not able to reserve our meeting rooms.  Expect these restrictions to last into the summer months.  Please continue to check our website for updates as guidance from NYS is constantly changing.  Thank you so much for your understanding and patience during this time.

Library Director Jenny Goodemote is hosting office hours via Zoom on Friday afternoons at 1:30PM.  She will provide a weekly update and answer your questions.  Use this link to join the webinar.  The password is 605182.
