Help us make the Earth a cleaner, healthier environment for all.

We all share one home and that is the planet Earth.  Today, as we commemorate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we hope you will join us in the fight to make our common home a cleaner, healthier place for all.

Wood Library's strategic plan includes a section on Sustainability.  For the past two years we have been making a conscious effort to use the framework of sustainability to guide our work and embody practices that are environmentally sound, economically feasible, and socially equitable.  Some examples are installing LED lighting throughout our building, hosting lectures and programs that raise awareness about environmental issues, and offering free WiFi hotspots to people who don't have reliable or fast internet at home.

Our collective actions do make a difference!  Consider adopting a new practice that you can start today to make our community cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable.  Here are some ideas to get you started.

Good news to note

Since the beginning of April, the Pioneer Library System and Wood Library have borrowed funds from their book budgets to purchase hundreds of new eBook titles for our digital collections.  Nearly 300 people have signed up for a digital library card which allows them to download eBooks and audio-books to a personal device.  More people are reading eBooks than ever before, and we are adapting to meet your needs at home.

In these unprecedented and uncertain times, Wood Library is a constant. We are able to continue to fulfill our mission because of the caring support of generous individuals like you.

Library patrons are borrowing eBooks and downloading audio-books at record rates. Between April 1-April 14, 2020, we saw a 34% increase in downloads compared to the same two week period in 2019.

You can support our efforts to expand free access to digital collections and uplifting virtual content by making a donation to Wood Library on April 23, 2020.  Our goal is $5,000.

Thank you for supporting Wood Library!
