The Seine: the River that Made Paris. This is a must read for anyone who has ever been to Paris. The book is the result of much research by the author, Elaine Sciolino, an original Buffalonian living in Paris since 2002. She traced the history and current state of the entire river from Burgundy to its end at LeHavre on the English Channel. The last chapter was a tear jerker, all about Notre Dame which I have seen 3 times, twice as a whole building and once after the fire. I cried!
I borrowed her first book called The Only Street in Paris, but haven't started it yet. I am not much of a non-fiction reader, but she is very readable.
